How to Clone a Public Avatar

See an Avatar that someone's wearing? Want to try it on? As long as that user is wearing a Public avatar and they have "Allow Avatar Cloning" enabled, you can!

1. Open your Quick Menu (ESC on Desktop, Menu button in VR).
2. Click on a user who is wearing an avatar you want to wear.
3. If the avatar is Public and the user has "Allow Avatar Cloning" enabled, the "Clone Avatar" button will be available.

4. Click the "Clone Avatar" button!
5. You'll switch into the Avatar that the other user is wearing.

Preventing Avatar Cloning

There are two ways to prevent other users from cloning your Avatar.

1. Disable "Allow Avatar Cloning" in the VRChat's settings. This prevents other users from cloning your current avatar, even if it is public.
   1. If you want Avatar Cloning to automatically be disabled when you leave a world, enable "Auto Disable Avatar Cloning."

2. Make your avatar private on the VRChat website under "My Avatars". You can only do this with Avatars you have uploaded yourself.
