VRChat 2026.3.1

August 12 - Build 1885 - Live

Changes & Fixes

  • You can now report bugs from within the client! By doing so, they'll automatically be sent to Canny.
    • You can do so via the Quick Menu. Click the Report (!) button, located in the top right corner, then click "Bug Report."
    • This feature supports automatic uploading of your client log file.
  • Introducing Signed Distance Fields (SDF)!
    • Stickers and Emoji now get a gpu-side check to see if they're 'cutout' friendly. That is, only have partially transparent pixels close to edges.
    • If they are, we run our own SDF calculation that turns their alpha into infinitely scalable images that look more like vector art.
    • SDFs increase both legibility and performance!
    • These images get pixel-perfect antialiasing and clipping at any distance and from nearly any angle, even on Android!
    • Emojis have been upgraded to utilize this new tech and get a facelift, they'll no longer be super aliased from a distance, even if animated.
  • Fixed a menu soft lock bug triggered by switching to a performance-gated avatar via a pedestal in the instance.
  • Previewed Accessories in the Accessories tab of the Shop are now shown on their own rather than attached to your current avatar.
    • You might not see this change, but most users will.
  • Some camera additions!
    • Added a black and white filter to the Camera.
    • Added a "Dog Vision" option to the Color Filters settings in the Quick Menu Settings page and the Main Menu Settings Accessibility tab.
      • Bark!
    • "Apply To World" now applies the selected filter settings to the world for the Desktop Steadycam view when that option is enabled from the Camera menu in PCVR.
  • Changed uses of the word player with user for clarity in several strings.
  • Fixed some overflowing texts on QM Selection menus and localized some strings that were unlocalized in various areas.
  • Fixed an issue where the max Prop spawning distance in relation to your current avatar size was sometimes wrong in third-person view.
  • Improved position and timing of entry Warp Effects.
  • Updated styling for compact user cells across the UI.
  • Reintroduced precisely highlighting pickups that can change shape, in other words SkinnedMeshRenderer support for VRC_Pickup.
    • We reverted this one in the last release due to it affecting some content. We've now added a field to specify which meshes exactly to outline.
    • The SDK that will allow them to fix that is not shipping with this patch, however. Next release will have it!
    • We feel that the amount of content this affects is extraordinarily small, but we still wanted to note this here anyway!
  • Users with slower connections should no longer appear at world origin before moving to their correct spawn location.
  • Prop Abilities have been enabled in the client.
    • We previously mentioned this change for world creators in the last release.
    • Instance creators can now do the same thing, giving them the ability to disable certain Props from being spawned.
  • Recently Used avatars section in the wings now works properly on fresh installs.
  • Dedicated "Friends" sections have been added to:
    • "In Instance" on the Social tab.
    • "Recently Seen" on the Social tab.
    • The Quick Menu's "Here" tab.
  • Android devices will now replace rtspt:// URLs during video player loading with rtsp:// to work around a limitation of ExoPlayer.
  • Minor internal networking improvements.
  • Optimized image loading from the local cache.
  • Drone customizations persist across sessions again.
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to softlocks after using "Switch Account" from the menu.
  • The "boop" sound effect that plays when you get a notification is now decoupled from your HUD visibility mode, meaning that you can still hear notification sounds even if your HUD is turned off.
    • If you'd prefer not to hear notification sounds at all, you can turn off the "Play Notification Audio" setting.
  • The icons used in the Item Ability settings now use your selected UI theme.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the keyboard UI to get stuck open.
  • Fixed an issue that caused extra buttons to appear under the Avatar preview, when viewing a list of avatars in the Shop tab.
  • In the Quick Menu, users' Mic Level now displays "0%" while they're muted.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented links from showing up on notifications.
  • Fixed an issue that could sometimes cause travel to fail, leaving the user stuck until a client restart.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused User Icons to not update when Shield settings are changed.
  • Fixed a bug where removing a VRChat friend who was also a Discord friend would remove them from the Discord section of the Friends list as well.
  • Updated the design of user cells in the Friends and Groups wings.
  • World category buttons no longer have clickable/hoverable regions extending above them to steal focus from the other buttons.
  • Shiny/metallic materials now render correctly in the Avatar Accessories editor.
  • Greatly improved the reliability of VRCObjectSync, specifically around ensuring that the final state after motion is the same between all players in an instance.
    • Déjà vu? We had that one in 2026.2.3, but needed to revert it for internal reasons. This release brings it back!
  • Fixed loading screen preview inconsistencies.
  • Slightly improved instance loading speed.
  • Performance and memory optimizations.

Android Mobile

  • Event Calendar: Fixed an issue that caused certain regions to display the calendar incorrectly when the week in that region does not start on a Sunday.
  • Removed "Interactive Object Tooltip" setting from mobile, as this setting did not affect mobile platforms.
  • The app now handles very large group icons and banners more gracefully.
  • Localization changes.
