Features
Introducing the Safety Center
We've added a new section to the UI: the Safety Center.
The Safety Center lets user know if their account is in good standing -- or if it isn't, what they did wrong, and what their punishment currently is. You can find it via the button on the Settings page, top-left.
The Safety Center is the visual part of something much larger. In short, we want to do a handful of things:
- Make sure folks that are actioned by our Trust & Safety team have a better understanding of why.
- Have punishments that better fit the “crime,” so-to-speak. Think “feature level” punishments as opposed to “account level” punishment.
For example, in the past, if someone had an avatar-based violation they would receive an account suspension. Now, they would receive a temporary restriction relating to being able to change into or use certain avatars, but their account would still remain accessible.
You can read more about this feature (as well as see some screenshots of its implementation) in the October 10, 2026 Developer Update.
Updated Face Tracking!
If you've been paying attention to the beta SDK, you've likely noticed a lot of new Face Tracking features!
If you don't know what I'm talking about, we added a Face Tracking section to the Avatar Descriptor!
You can read about it here!
In short, though, here's a more general-purpose summary:
The new Face Tracking system has its own OSC support as well! We now network all 102 Unified Expressions values without using your synced parameter budget.
The new system allows offloading face tracking from the animator for more optimization. You can still use the animator if you want to, though.
Want to add support to your own avatars? Go check out the page linked above!
You don’t need a face tracker to try out the new Facetracking features, either. You can with just a webcam! The new system gives selfie expression much more fidelity to work with!
And everything I just said is only a taste of what’s possible. Layer multiple sets of blendshapes? Use custom math expressions with face tracking? Finally get float precision viseme parameters? It's all in there. We're excited. Look at our excited face. :O
For creators, this comes with a "Face Tracking" debug page. As with all the others, you can find it under Quick Menu > Settings > (at bottom) "Toggle Debug UI" > Face Tracking (tab on the left).
Improved Login and Sign-up Flow
You might've noticed a note about this for mobile clients and the website in the previous release's patch notes! Well, now it's for everyone.
The login page was one of the oldest pieces of UI we have in the client, so it has received a much needed overhaul.
It also uses the new keyboard introduced last release! The login keyboard specifically was actually still from UI 1.0 days (pepperidge farm remembers). Typing your password just became a lot easier.
Though you may not need to: On PC, you can now log in by scanning a QR code with the VRChat mobile app. And if we detect that your Steam account is not linked to a native VRC account, we'll prompt you (just once) to link it.
We've also made it a lot easier to pick the login method that's best for you, expanding your options on some platforms. Even if you're insane and you want to log in with Google on Quest.
Depending on your platform, you can now log in with Steam, Meta, Pico, Google, or Discord. You can even create a new VRChat account without ever leaving the app.
This applies for switching accounts without leaving VRChat too!
As part of this change, we also updated the default Loading Screen -- it's a Cool Portal now. Don't worry, if you want the old Teal Void, you can find it via the Cosmetics section of the Inventory.
Changes & Fixes
- Fixed a bug where the "muted by" icon on a remote user's nameplate could get out of sync.
- Accessories can now be archived. Archived accessories will not appear in the looks editor unless they are already attached to the look as you begin editing it.
- Avatar Accessories have been added to the Main Menu inventory page.
- VRChat's cached textures are now stored in the custom cache directory if one is defined.
- The non-primary UI laser now highlights keyboard keys in VR too.
- Fixed the position of the background glow in the main menu to properly align with your cursor.
- Fixed some UI elements not being affected by the user's Color Filter accessibility settings
- Updated the "Add" button in any configurable AM page to now say "Edit" with matching icon
- Fixed click SFX on main menu VRC+ gifting leaderboard.
- There is now a button to crash the game.
- It's a debug option.
- It really does this.
- dead-dove.gif
- Updated styling of background on shop listing details windows.
- Boops Emoji explosion now uses each Emoji animation instead of the aura effect.
- Fixed a situation where late joiners would sometimes receive Udon events out of order.
- Fixed an issue where World Menu header buttons weren't properly collapsing.
- Resolved Udon exceptions when attempting to sync null VRCUrl objects in a world that uses persistence.
- Networked finger tracking on remote avatars can now dynamically degrade/disable on avatars that are far away in crowded instances (the same kind of situation where other forms of networking priority kick in to maintain quality of nearby avatars).
- This lays the groundwork for the future possibility to implement higher-than-current finger tracking detail for nearby avatars.
- Changed the collision shape on remote players into a capsule, matching the proportions of the capsule on the local player.
- This replaces the collision shape previously used by remote players, which was a sphere positioned around the feet.
- This is the shape that causes world Udon to fire player trigger enter/stay/exit events when entering and exiting matching triggers in the world.
- Pickups and interactables in worlds will no longer highlight skinned mesh renderers by default if the Outline Renderers list is empty, due to pre-existing content that relies on this.
- Added change to stabilize PhysBones when using non-uniform scaled transforms.
- This is still not entirely supported and not recommended, but it should perform better in some situations.
- Added a new OSC Endpoint, available through OSCQuery:
/avatar/name, which gives tools the ability to react to specific avatars being loaded by their name set in the SDK. - The announcement type and close buttons on an expanded News article now auto-hide while the video is playing to not obscure it.
- Removed the deprecated "Search By Bio" option from the refine user search menu.
- The nameplate no longer adjusts its own height beyond the maximum height of the chatbox when set to "Below" mode and multiple newlines are present.
- Improved websocket connection stability.
- This should improve reliability for friends list and location updates under certain network conditions.
- Also added a debug page for Websocket events and state.
- The "Personal Space" option now defaults to "Off" for new users.
- The VRChat mouse cursor is now hidden when the app is not focused and no menu is open.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the notification informing you about a connected OSCQuery client not to show.
- Some HUD notifications, like the OSCQuery one, non longer show an incorrect icon.
- Labels on debug pages that are too wide to fit inside a column (for example: long parameter names) now scroll so you can read the entire text.
- Fixed the "Learn more about VRC+" button on the Quick Menu VRC+ tab.
- Fixed the Hype Train info screen sometimes not rendering properly.
- Fixed an issue where the Hype Train icon on instances could appear to be slanted.
- Fixed profile backgrounds being reset when selecting a profile after viewing the social menu.
- Fixed menu slide-in animations sometimes getting stuck.
- Fixed TextMeshPro fallback fonts appearing as blocks in some worlds.
- Fixed a bug where Profile Effects in the Quick Menu could cover up important elements.
- "Filter Extreme Horror" is no longer cut off at the bottom of the Comfort and Safety settings.
- The "typing" indicator is once again visible in red for users who's full chatbox you have hidden.
- The HUD Face Mirror should no longer appear as a black square on the loading screen.
- Parameter values in the avatar debug GUI now adjust how many decimal places are visible if they get too long to fit into one column.
- Additionally, long parameter and state names are now split in the middle while keeping the start and end visible.
- Fixed PhysBones showing their default pose momentarily when grabbing them.
- Improved reliability of avatar parameter syncing.
- Introduced name-based mapping for synced parameters.
- This means that synced parameters between two different platform builds of the same avatar will now sync even if they're at different positions in the synced parameter buffer, going off of names instead.
- For most avatars this shouldn't cause any differences, but in some cases it can fix animator desyncs across different uploaded variants, fallbacks, or versions.
- You do not need to re-upload avatars for this to work, but it may take a couple days to begin working on older avatars.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the "Customize Action Menu" page to open for looks when associated data didn't properly load.
- In this edge case you can now still modify your Action Menu, though wearing the affected look might be prevented.
- Stability improvements.
iOS
- Fixed slowdown when screen mirroring over AirPlay or connecting controllers with internal microphones.
Android
- Companions are now only highlighted when in reticle on mobile.
- "Tap someone to see more information and options" mobile tutorial step is now able to be completed.
- Localization improvements and additions.
