VRChat 2026.4.1 (OPEN BETA)
October 9 - Build 1931 - Open Beta
Features
Introducing the Safety Center
We've added a new section to the UI: the Safety Center.
The Safety Center lets user know if their account is in good standing -- or if it isn't, what they did wrong, and what their punishment currently is. You can find it via the button on the Settings page, top-left.
The Safety Center is the visual part of something much larger. In short, we want to do a handful of things:
- Make sure folks that are actioned by our Trust & Safety team have a better understanding of why.
- Have punishments that better fit the “crime,” so-to-speak. Think “feature level” punishments as opposed to “account level” punishment.
For example, in the past, if someone had an avatar-based violation they would receive an account suspension. Now, they would receive a temporary restriction relating to being able to change into or use certain avatars, but their account would still remain accessible.
You can read more about this feature (as well as see some screenshots of its implementation) in the October 10, 2026 Developer Update.
As a note, while this build contains the Safety Center, during the beta phase you will not see it change from "Account Standing: Good". We are still implementing the backend changes for this, and rolling out the new policy slowly.
Improved Login and Sign-up Flow
You might've noticed a note about this for mobile clients and the website in the previous release's patch notes! Well, now it's for everyone.
The login page was one of the oldest pieces of UI we have in the client, so it has received a much needed overhaul.
It also uses the new keyboard introduced last release! The login keyboard specifically was actually still from UI 1.0 days (pepperidge farm remembers). Typing your password just became a lot easier.
Though you may not need to: On PC, you can now log in by scanning a QR code with the VRChat mobile app. And if we detect that your Steam account is not linked to a native VRC account, we'll prompt you (just once) to link it.
We've also made it a lot easier to pick the login method that's best for you, expanding your options on some platforms. Even if you're insane and you want to log in with Google on Quest.
Depending on your platform, you can now log in with Steam, Meta, Pico, Google, or Discord. You can even create a new VRChat account without ever leaving the app.
This applies for switching accounts without leaving VRChat too!
Changes & Fixes
- Fixed a bug where the "muted by" icon on a remote user's nameplate could get out of sync.
- Accessories can now be archived. Archived accessories will not appear in the looks editor unless they are already attached to the look as you begin editing it.
- Avatar Accessories have been added to the Main Menu inventory page.
- VRChat's cached textures are now stored in the custom cache directory if one is defined.
- The non-primary UI laser now highlights keyboard keys in VR too.
- Fixed the position of the background glow in the main menu to properly align with your cursor.
- Fixed some UI elements not being affected by the user's Color Filter accessibility settings
- Updated the "Add" button in any configurable AM page to now say "Edit" with matching icon
- Fixed click SFX on main menu VRC+ gifting leaderboard.
- There is now a button to crash the game.
- It's a debug option.
- It really does this.
- dead-dove.gif
- Updated styling of background on shop listing details windows.
- Boops Emoji explosion now uses each Emoji animation instead of the aura effect.
- Fixed a situation where late joiners would sometimes receive Udon events out of order.
- Fixed an issue where World Menu header buttons weren't properly collapsing.
- Resolved Udon exceptions when attempting to sync null VRCUrl objects in a world that uses persistence.
- Fixed an issue affecting nameplate height in mirrors when a constraint is used as a child of the avatar's head.
- As part of this, when switching avatars, the new custom avatar remains hidden until it is fully initialized and tracking.
- Networked finger tracking on remote avatars can now dynamically degrade/disable on avatars that are far away in crowded instances (the same kind of situation where other forms of networking priority kick in to maintain quality of nearby avatars).
- This lays the groundwork for the future possibility to implement higher-than-current finger tracking detail for nearby avatars.
- Changed the collision shape on remote players into a capsule, matching the proportions of the capsule on the local player.
- This replaces the collision shape previously used by remote players, which was a sphere positioned around the feet.
- This is the shape that causes world Udon to fire player trigger enter/stay/exit events when entering and exiting matching triggers in the world.
- Pickups and interactables in worlds will no longer highlight skinned mesh renderers by default if the Outline Renderers list is empty, due to pre-existing content that relies on this.
- Added change to stabilize PhysBones when using non-uniform scaled transforms.
- This is still not entirely supported and not recommended, but it should perform better in some situations.
Known Issues
- Remote player colliders are still slightly wider and taller than the local player collider.
- When already logged in, the new UI will only pop up briefly and not load fully. This doesn't effect logging in, just visually not great.
- Navigating between fields in the new sign-up page using the "Next" button may skip some fields.
- The profile background selector may show as empty.
